Virtual Tutor to Develop Mathematical Modeling Skills in High School Students

El estudio aborda las deficiencias en la habilidad de modelación matemática en estudiantes de bachillerato ecuatorianos de contextos vulnerables. Fundamentado en el potencial de las tecnologías educativas, el objetivo fue diseñar un tutor virtual contextualizado para desarrollar esta competencia. La investigación empleó un enfoque mixto con diseño no experimental transversal, aplicándose un diagnóstico a 30 estudiantes, el diseño del tutor “FiMath” en Google Sites, y su validación por 10 especialistas. Los resultados del diagnóstico revelaron que el 67% de los estudiantes presentaba un nivel bajo en modelación matemática, con mayores dificultades en validación de modelos (77%). La validación del tutor obtuvo un 89% de aprobación, destacando su pertinencia cultural y fundamentación pedagógica. Se concluye que el diseño propuesto es factible y constituye una herramienta tecnopedagógica viable para fortalecer el aprendizaje autónomo de la modelación matemática, respondiendo a necesidades específicas del contexto ecuatoriano mediante una arquitectura accesible y contextualizada.
