Crossref - DOI (digital object identifier)

The Instituto Internacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico Educativo INDTEC, C.A., as a Member of Crossref, has included DOI identifiers, to all the manuscripts of Revista Scientific, with the purpose of maintaining transparency in our publications.

What does the DOI structure mean, used in the Revista Scientific?
The DOI has a syntax that corresponds to a NISO standard (NISO Z39.84, DOI Syntax) that recognizes the numbered authority and delegation of a digital resource.

It is an alphanumeric code that identifies an article on the web and recovers it even if it is located on a different server than the one originally hosted.

It is formed by:
The prefix corresponds to the identification of the institution (that is, identifies the publisher). For the INDTEC, its DOI prefix is 10.29394 and it is assigned by the entity that provides the DOI. Therefore, all publications of the Institution will have the same prefix.

The suffix, on the other hand, is free, that is, it means that each institution or journal can decide how to structure it, it can be numeric or alphanumeric. In the case of the publications of the Revista Scientific, it is formed by the name of the journal (Scientific), the ISSN of the publication with its initials in lowercase and separated by a period (issn.2542-2987), plus the year of publication of the article (2016), volume number (1), edition number (1), a number correlated to each article or essay (1) and the number of first and last pages, separated by a hyphen (5-20).

Both elements are separated by /
