The clinical psychologist has a lot to contribute in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, however, his intervention is considered as a complement and not as a fundamental job in the recovery of people's physical health. It seeks to know what are the effects of the pandemic on the psychological health of patients, as well as synthesize what the intervention of the psychologist in the recovery of patients from COVID-19 consists of. Therefore, in the present essay scientific research papers are presented that show the havoc in psychological health in hospitalized patients and patients who receive medical discharge. A brief review of the psychological intervention model based on the Ehlers and Clark proposal is made with the purpose of helping in the recovery of the patient from COVID-19. Working with the thinking of patients is essential for recovery from COVID-19. The lack of modernization of health systems in such a way that they promote adequate psychological health care for patients, family members and health professionals is notorious. Finally, the work of clinical psychologists through telepsychology can become an essential tool.
