Response to the analysis of the theoretical and practical training of psychologists in Ecuador

The present research began with the review of the curricular meshes of the psychology career in Ecuador, and the graduation profile of the students of this, in addition the professional field was explored in order to verify the regulation of psychotherapeutic practice, both in the public and private sectors. The objectives are: to indicate the guidelines of psychotherapeutic practice, analyze the skills and competencies of the professionals within the area, and propose a proposal in psychotherapeutic training. It is a qualitative study, exploratory and descriptive. Through this study, it was found that there is no regulation for psychotherapeutic exercise, that the undergraduate training of the psychology career offers different graduation profiles, urgently evidencing a fourth-level training for the exercise of psychotherapy. As a result of this research, a proposal is highlighted that guarantees the development of professional competencies and skills during training, in addition to establishing requirements that guarantee a professional practice, subject to supervision and regulation of psychotherapeutic practice in Ecuador.
