Optimization of Educational Management for the Implementation of the Technical Baccalaureate in Tourism at Guachalá Educational Unit

Dropout in rural schools located in underutilized tourist areas represents an educational and socioeconomic challenge that demands targeted curricular responses. This study aimed to analyze the educational management conditions at the Guachalá Educational Unit, Cangahua, Cayambe, to assess the feasibility of implementing a technical baccalaureate in tourism in 2024. A mixed quantitative-qualitative approach was used, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design, descriptive scope, and inductive method. The sample comprised 180 participants: 150 students surveyed through a Likert-scale questionnaire and 30 teachers interviewed for qualitative data. Key findings show that 56% of students recognized the program's value for their professional future, 87% of teachers believed their students would enroll if the program were offered, and 73% identified language learning as a core competency. A structural gap was also identified: the educational community supports the program, yet 52,67% perceive institutional limitations to realizing it. It is concluded that the technical baccalaureate in tourism is a viable option; its implementation requires strengthening teacher training, upgrading infrastructure, and building strategic partnerships with the local tourism sector.
