Psychological well-being constitutes a determining factor in student mental health, being fundamental for developing adaptive stress coping strategies in the current university context. The objective was to analyze psychological well-being as an alternative to improve stress coping in university students from Piura during 2025. A study was developed with a mixed approach (qualitative-quantitative), descriptive-correlational method and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 520 university students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Structured surveys and semi-structured interviews were applied to evaluate the six dimensions of psychological well-being and three dimensions of stress coping. Results revealed favorable levels in psychological well-being: purpose in life 60,1%, self-acceptance 57,1%, positive relationships 57,1%, environmental mastery 55,4%, personal growth 55.0% and autonomy 52,9%. In stress coping: emotion-focused style 48,8%, problem-focused style 43,6% and other additional styles 42,4%. It is concluded that psychological well-being represents an effective alternative to improve stress coping, establishing foundations for preventive interventions in higher education contexts.
