This research addresses the development of occupational safety and protection competencies in Automotive Electromechanics students at the Joaquín Gallegos Lara Educational Unit in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The study is based on the need to improve safety in workshop practices. The objective was to design didactic strategies to form these competencies. A qualitative and descriptive methodology was employed, using literature review, interviews, participant observation, and surveys. The results revealed limitations in the knowledge and application of safety norms, as well as the lack of teaching and evaluative tasks related to safety. The need to integrate innovative strategies and contextualize training with labor market realities was identified. It is concluded that implementing these strategies not only improves the quality of technical education but also significantly contributes to creating a safer work environment in the automotive sector.
