The sociocultural approach in language teaching allows understanding reading as a cultural process of decoding and communicational exchange. Under this concept, this research aims to apply the reading mediation of parents through the critical children's canon to promote reading in early childhood at the initial level II of the Ensueños School. To this end, the research process assumed a socio-critical paradigm, with a mixed methodology and a nested design, since it emphasizes the qualitative approach. An intentional sample of 12 parents from the initial level II of early childhood education was selected, comprising the entire population. The techniques used were interviews, observation, and surveys. As an intervention proposal, 4 workshops were carried out to strengthen reading mediation through the principles of the sociocultural approach in literature. As results, it was obtained that parents can select a contextual literary corpus, implement reading animation strategies that motivate through games and magic; and, finally, set up a reading corner for this purpose in their homes.
