This study explored the relationship between environmental awareness and ecological behavior among Mining Engineering students at the National University of Huancavelica, Peru. It is grounded in the growing importance of environmental education in university training, especially in careers related to natural resource exploitation. The research employed a quantitative methodology with a non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional design. A Likert-type questionnaire was administered to a sample of 149 students. Results revealed that 90% of students expressed having environmental awareness, while 81.8% demonstrated positive ecological behavior. Statistical analysis, using a t-test for related samples, showed a positive and statistically significant relationship between environmental awareness and ecological behavior. These findings suggest that the university is effectively fostering environmental awareness and behavior among future mining engineers. The study concludes that there is a solid foundation for developing professionals committed to sustainability in this field. It highlights the importance of integrating environmental education into university programs to promote more responsible and sustainable mining practices.
